Headaches: Looking Beyond the Pain

Almost everyone experiences a headache at some point in their lives. For some, it's an occasional inconvenience. For others, headaches become a frequent disruption that affects work, family life, sleep, and overall well-being.

While headaches can have many different causes, not all headaches begin in the head. In many cases, tension and dysfunction in the muscles and joints of the neck and base of the skull can contribute to headache symptoms. These are often referred to as cervicogenic headaches, meaning they originate from structures in the cervical spine. Neck pain is also commonly associated with tension-type headaches.

If you're experiencing headaches and live in Herzliya, Tel Aviv, or the surrounding area, my first goal is to determine whether your neck is contributing to your symptoms and whether chiropractic care may help.

Through a thorough history and physical examination—including postural assessment, evaluation of spinal mobility, muscle tension, movement patterns, and range of motion—I determine whether conservative chiropractic care is appropriate or whether further medical evaluation is needed.

Chiropractic care is not simply about spinal adjustments. It may include a combination of hands-on techniques to reduce muscle tension and improve joint mobility, targeted exercises, posture and ergonomic advice, stress management strategies, and education to help patients better understand and manage their condition.

If headaches are becoming part of your routine rather than the exception, don't ignore them. Identifying and addressing the underlying cause is the first step toward taking back control, improving your quality of life, and getting back to living with less pain.

This is general information, not a diagnosis. Every case is different. Talk to a healthcare provider about your specific symptoms.
